PROJECT LOG
PROJECT 001
First SMS Sunday
No issues first SMS in use. Next week will be telling as I will be sending guest invites.
PROJECT 001
DEMO Launch
SMS DEMO APP added to portfolio. Carousel of images highlighting the app also added.
PROJECT 001
BETA to LAUNCH
BETA has been completed as successful. BETA data has been deleted and the APP is now fully functional. Pending a DEMO version to add to the Adaska Labs portfolio for visitors to explore.
PROJECT 001
Founding Beta begins
Founding Beta entered live testing with the Week 0 experience in place and the app ready for real gathering-day use.
PROJECT 001 // BETA
Production Founding Beta
SMS is now a deployed, operational full-stack application undergoing live Founding Beta testing ahead of final stabilization and full launch.

PROJECT 001 // BETA
Real-user feedback drives refinement
Current Beta work is refining RSVP presentation, Food behavior, Hosting/co-host capabilities, Season gathering details, navigation and other issues discovered through actual use rather than hypothetical testing.
PROJECT 001
Founding Beta preparation
Founding Beta preparation tightened the product around host editing, RSVP behavior, Week 0, production hardening, and real-user testing.
PROJECT 001 // BETA
SMS enters real-user Beta
Founding Members began using the real Production application, shifting development from internally driven acceptance testing to actual user behavior, feedback, concurrency and real game-day workflows.
LAB
Production operations validated
Production backup was actually executed and verified, and the scheduled NFL synchronization/cron path was subsequently proven. This closed a major platform-readiness gate before Beta.
LAB
Production test data reset
Acceptance-test Members, Guests and participation data were deliberately removed while the real Admin and system/reference data were retained, creating a clean Production starting point for actual users.
LAB
Real workflows tested in Production
Member navigation, Admin denial, account/team preferences, Guest flows, Hosting, Food, RSVP and other integrated behavior were tested against the deployed application rather than relying solely on development tests.
PROJECT 001
Schedule and access systems integrated
Guest access, preferred-team handling, ESPN schedule data, and the football-week resolver were integrated into the main product flow.
LAB
smokeymeatsunday.com goes live
The application moved onto its permanent Production infrastructure and domain, with Vercel, Production Supabase, DNS/SSL, authentication configuration and deployment workflows operating against the real environment.
LAB
Production environment hardened
Development bypass protections, RLS, service-role boundaries, secret handling, production/development isolation, authorization auditing and account security became formal launch gates.
LAB
Permissions become server-enforced
Hosting, RSVP, Food ownership, Guest isolation, Admin access and historical read-only rules were moved beyond UI behavior into actual authorization protections.
LAB
Backup, recovery and health monitoring added
Automated Production backups, restore validation, NFL-sync health monitoring, Supabase connectivity checks and Admin System Health moved SMS from “working app” toward an operated application.
LAB
Historical preservation completed
SMS gained multi-season historical isolation and immutable snapshots for RSVP, Food and Hosting, allowing the application to preserve what actually happened rather than rewriting history when underlying data changes.
LAB
Venues and gathering logistics separated from football
SMS began treating the gathering itself as distinct from the NFL game: host, venue, address, gathering date/time and related logistics became their own structured data.
LAB
Guest Pass evolves into season-level Guest access
The original week-specific Guest concept was replaced with reusable Member Guest Links, canonical Guest identities, multi-week RSVP, persistent Guest access and inviter attribution.
LAB
Member authentication matures
SMS moved away from the earlier Magic Link approach toward email/password authentication, password recovery, persistent sessions, controlled Member invitations and strict separation between Member, Guest and Admin access.
LAB
Real football schedule data incorporated
Built synchronization of NFL game information into SMS, including the four tracked teams—Chargers, Cowboys, Lions and Patriots—and handling of weekly game states and special game identifiers.
LAB
Future → Current → Historical behavior established
Centralized football-week logic established the Tuesday rollover and made completed gatherings immutable historical records rather than disposable weekly data.
LAB
Favorite Team personalization introduced
Home became personalized around each user's selected team while This Week remained a shared gathering experience. Sports Ball became the neutral alternative with its own artwork, taglines and intentionally fake record system.
LAB
Cosmic Smoke design system established
Developed the dark deep-space SMS aesthetic with blues, purples, magentas, cyan and smoke/fire accents, along with the graffiti-influenced branding and custom football artwork.
LAB
Next.js + Supabase architecture established
SMS became a real full-stack web application rather than a prototype: Next.js frontend/application layer, Supabase database and authentication, GitHub source control, and eventually Vercel deployment.
LAB
RSVP + Hosting + Food become functional
Members could coordinate the actual Sunday gathering: attendance, hosting, venues, food contributions, kitchen needs and event logistics rather than SMS simply displaying football information.
LAB
SMS expands beyond “This Week”
Season became a planning surface where users could browse future weeks, RSVP ahead of time, plan Food, inspect games and eventually revisit historical gatherings.
IDEA
Core SMS experience defined
Established the fundamental model: Members, Guests, weekly events, Hosting, RSVP, Food planning, tracked NFL teams, and the Sports Ball option.
IDEA
Smokey Meat Sunday begins
Started as an attempt to replace the informal coordination around weekly football gatherings with one purpose-built application for hosting, attendance, food, and game-day planning.
PROJECT 001
Core weekly experience takes shape
The core weekly experience came together: host planning, RSVPs, potluck coordination, team-aware views, and a dedicated weekly game page.
PROJECT 001
Active build begins
Smokey Meat Sunday moved into active build as a private game-day coordination app centered on weekly hosting, attendance, and food planning.
